cake mix with a tub of frosting IN the mix

I have a couple tubs of frosting and a cake mix. I thought you just used the dry mix and the tub of frosting to make the cake. Does anyone have the recipe for the bundt cake or links for such a cake. I remember some calling it crawling cake because it spilled over the pans edge when baking. I do not want to make a mess of this but want to make it for church potluck.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Google "crawlin cake recipe" and there are several places where you can find the recipe for the cake. You use the mix and combine it with eggs, oil, and milk and then fold in the frosting. It tells you not to use your mixer to mix the cake as it will beat in too much air and it will crawl over the pan when it bakes. I had never heard of the cake but it sounds good. It apparently can be made using different combinations of mix and frosting. I would attach a file showing the recipe but I am not good at those things. Good luck!

The recipe I remember reading about did not make the cake as directed. Maybe do as directed but bake some cupcakes to avoid any over flow. Have a tub of mint frosting to use in a chocolate cake. I have a month before I need it so will keep looking around.
Thank you for the reply.

I will look for the recipe and pm you. It is one of those old recipes that I used to make.

I found this one that sounded good, but I have not tried it yet.
Inside Out Cake
lemon cake mix
lemon icing
3/4 c oil
4 eggs
1 c water
Mix well.
Greased 9x13 pan
Bake 350 for 45 minutes.

linmid, sure would like to see if you have a match for what I remember.

Vinnie, the lemon one does sound good and that one is baked in a 9x13 so it should not crawl out of the pan.

Oops sorry about not getting back to you. I could not find my recipe.

I have this one saved in my favorites but never made it..... but plan to one of these days when I need a cake for an event. Simply can't have cake in my house.....no self control whatsoever when cake is sitting around!!
It gives the info on how to mix.

I made this at work for the kids and they LOVED it.

I made it with a vanilla cake mix and vanilla icing, because that was all I had.

1 cake mix
1 can icing
2/3 cup veg oil
3/4 cup water
4 eggs
Spray 9x13 pan well. Mix all ingredients and add to pan. Tap pan on countertop a few times to get up air bubbles. Bake at 350. I turned mine at 25 minutes, but it took about 50 minutes to be done in my oven. I'd check after 45 with a tooth pick to be sure.
Don't try to take it out of the pan before it's cool.
Definitely didn't need to be iced.
