Lots of recipes call for mandarin oranges.I don't care for them & wondering if fresh orange sections would sub for them? Guess I'm the only person that doesn't eat canned oranges.Funny how are tastes can be so diff.

My taste buds are just are just coming around to like Mandarin oranges.
I used fresh oranges or tangerines in recipes that called for canned.

I made a cranberry salad the other day that called for mandarin oranges and since I didn't have any, I used pineapple chunks cut in half and it worked great.

I don't like fresh Mandarins, but I can eat canned ones...even if not a real favourite. Seems like you should be able to sub fresh fruit of your choice.

Have you eaten the Cuties? they are small like mandarins and very good, peel easily...they may be tangerines, not sure..

Thanks for all the suggestions.I'm making a diff fruit salad that doesn't call for the mandarins. Will use regular oranges....or tangerines.Doesn't the smell of tangerines bring the Christmas memories with them?
