Christmas Pudding
Canadian friends brought Christmas Pudding for dessert on Christmas. That was a new treat for us. Have any of you had the pleasure of having this?

My mother used to make it along with the Christmas cakes. It was delicious served warm with a custard sauce on top. I have never attempted it myself.

I am English and live in Australia.....Yep, we love it usually with Brandy sauce. Also mince pies and Christmas Cake (dark fruit cake often with marzipan and Royal icing).

They brought a lemon curd for the top but said they use a brandy sauce too. It was made with carrots raisins potatoes and I don't know what else.

We had brandy sauce on a Christmas pudding yesterday at out family Christmas get together. 29 of us! I don't know who made it, but if someone wants, I could find out and get the recipe.

Is that plum pudding? DD and I used to buy a small one at a craft fair. Good stuff

One of my step-fathers used to make swet pudding with a Brandy sauce. It was rich full of raisins, nuts and pieces of fruit I think. He said he steamed it.........I just know it was so wonderful.....he had a special mold to prepare it in. calla

I love Christmas Pudding - steamed pudding with hard sauce, or lemon sauce, but I always find it is too much after a big meal.
I am Canadian, but Christmas, steamed, suet or plum pudding is a very English dessert. My Kiwi grandmother made it too. You use a special pudding bowl that has a rim so you can tie oiled paper to the top with string and it does not fall off. I either serve Trifle, another English dessert or Yule Log, a French jelly roll, for dessert on Christmas. |
Oh yeah the recipe would be nice.
