Cinnamon Allergy
I'm not much of a cook or a baker, but I love pumpkin baked goods. The problem is, the store bought stuff all has cinnamon, which I'm allergic to. I want to make a pumpkin quick bread. If I leave out the cinnamon in this recipe should I replace it by increasing the other spices or maybe adding all spice or just leave it out? Thanks!

Allspice might be a good alternative.

I agree that the Allspice would be a good alternative to the cinnamon.

I did a search and happened across https://www.livestrong.com/article/5...c-to-cinnamon/
I did find a few other references that indicated that when using allspice as a substitute that you should reduce the amount of allspice. Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do. Not affiliated with off-site link(s) |
I found recommendations for replacing cinnamon with only ¼ of the amount of allspice.

Thanks everybody! 1/4 tsp of Allspice is what I’ll use. I’ll let you know how it turns out!

I thought Allspice was a combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves & ginger. Be sure & check out the ingredients on the one you buy before using it.

Lots of good information here. Especially about reducing the amount of allspice as a replacement. Thanks!
