We call these "chocolate no-bake cookies"...YUM
and I had been having trouble with them until a friend said to use WHOLE milk...not 2% or 1%. She's right!!! It NEEDS that fat. I use either canned milk OR one time I added 2 tbsp margarine to 1% milk....YUM...now I'm hungry for them! |

Bring sugar, milk, cocoa, and butter in pan, bring to a boil, boil 2 -3 minutes. remove from heat, add peanut butter, stir to melt, add vanilla and oats, stir. Quickly drop by spoonful onto waxed paper. Don't overcook, it will get to crumbly, I turn heat down when it gets to bubbling good.Store covered. |

I've been making these for years, my kids love them! No bake cookies is what we call them. My daughter called me last week to ask me how to make them. When ever she comes to visit she always wants a batch to take home.

A neighbor brought these to a bbq we had, they were a big hit...pretty much the same recipe except he didn't put peanut butter in them....yum yum

I've made these for many years. We call
'em Preacher cookies |
this has been a fun thread. So many different names for the same sweet treat. I was given this receipe 45 years ago by a neighbor, and it was always a favorite of the kids and grandkids.( mine too) . I liked the suggestion of adding a little butter, and more oats would stretch them out some, but not sure about adding more to the measures I use. I wonder just how long that receipe has been around, and how many more years it will be passed on.

This looks tastey and a fun cookie to do with grandkids. Will give it a try. Thanks for sharing.
