My receipe is not a mayo dressing. You slice, shred or how-ever you make your slaw, the difference is the dressing.
Dressing
l cup of oil, 1 cup of water, 1 cup of cider vinegar, 1 cup of sugar, 1 tspn of celery seed. Salt & pepper.
Put in pot and boil for 5 minutes. Drizzle over slaw mixture.

This is great. It has lasted up to 1month in my fridge.
IMPORTANT--only use cider vinegar.
ENJOY.

I do a similar dressing for slaw. I use only about 1/2 cup oil, and no water, also add a 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of dry mustard.
I use white or cider vineger, both work well.
Try adding chopped onion, the leafie top of celery, and
green bell pepper.

I know that there are many ingrediants you can put in cole slaw,so to simplify things, I thought that if I wrote to do the cole slaw you like it would work. Besides the onion I also like to put in carrots, red & green peppers. Makes it colorful. Anne
Oh, the celery seeds give it that celery taste.

My sister-in-law used to put pineapple in her coleslaw and it was yummy, don't know if it would work in with this type of dressing.I always put shredded apple in mine. It was nice that way too.

I always make sure that the vinegar I use in food is fermented from apples (can be from corn, check if allergic to corn) and not from petroleum. I get cheap white vinegar for cleaning, I think that it is a reasonable alternative to even stronger petroleum products. And it's very cheap too.

Lots in my family have some severe allergies, so we are used to checking for those allergens in processed foods, and even then they might no be on the label.
