I just saw a box of coffee mugs at a thrift store on Fri., if they are still there I think I will get them and using baggies to fill with dry ingredients along with the recipes included and give as presents to all the CNA's on my 3-11 shift.

i made this at 10 p.m. one nite. it provided a good choc fix. only i put it in ceral bowl. seemed to me like it needed a little more room than a mug. worked just fine.

this could be dangerous - I am going to try it but without the cocoa - I like white or yellow cake with milk chocolate frosting - my favorite combination. The microwave cake sounds wonderful - oh boy where are my stretch pants - I am going to need them...

I just made myself a cup of chocolate cake! For those who are concerned about cup size (no, I am not talking A,B,orC) I'm talking coffee mug. I used a mug with an inside circumference of 10 inches and my cake rose to approx. 3 and 1/2 inches tall. I did do a few changes, I greased my mug with canola oil and started with the wet ingedients first so I could whip up my egg in the cup better. I didn't add the chocolate chips to the batter but sprinkled them on top when I took it out of the microwave. They made a nice gooey chocolate icing for my chocolate cake. I am eating it between typing. Yum!

Sounds really good. Thanks

sounds great but what size cup do you use? I have small 4 oz up to 16 oz LOL have no clue in wich size try this out
Also, make sure that you use pam or a bit of the oil in the mug before adding ingredients...helps with cleanup. A scoop of ice cream or a few marshmallows are very nice with this cake. I have packaged this dry mix up with a mug and instructions for what to add and cooking...this makes a nice gift for the office or teachers. |
and you can wrap it in a Mug Rug for a gift.

Oh my, this sound wonderful;) I am licking my lips already.

We just tried it...great recipe. We have some healthy appetites inour household but I think I would split one with another in the future. We used large mugs and the cakes slipped right out when cooled. We had them with vanilla bean ice cream and my son added a splash of Kahlua. I too added the chocolate chips to the top instead of mixing in. We will be having it again!

Sounds great - will try it for Sunday dinner soon.
