Do You Cook With Hemp Seeds?

I have been sprinkling hemp seeds in my breads and other baked goods lately. They are really good for you for a variety of reasons. I like them for their high levels of omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids. I'm trying to find more ways to use them. Do you cook with hemp seeds? If so, how are you using them?

We are for many reasons a pro-hemp household, it is a very versatile plant and can be grown in many climates. Here's a blurb from one of Costco's Suppliers

I watch a lot of Canadian TV that comes across the border, one of the shows I really like is Still Standing, a quirky little gentle comic travel show about small places in Canada. Gilbert Plains and the hemp fields was featured in one episode.

We don't get many carb based things but have looked into the seeds and they have a pretty good ratio/low carb. We do have/gotten crunchy mixes of various high protein things that have contained hemp hearts that mostly I sprinkle on cottage cheese but I haven't done any real cooking with any of it.

I made up a new hemp seed recipe the other day.

I was home alone and I wanted to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch. I should know better, because my husband has a serious addiction to peanut butter. I can buy the largest jar that they have in the store and within 1, maybe 2 days, it's gone. He gets up in the middle of the night and eats peanut butter straight out of the jar. Then, like most DHs, he leaves the empty jar in the fridge for me to find. So, long story short, I didn't have any peanut butter.

I scrounged around in the pantry and found some dried, roasted, salted sunflower seeds and the hemp seeds. I put about 3 parts sunflower seeds and 1 part hemp seeds in the food processor and blended them up until they were semi-smooth. OMG...it was delicious with my jelly! I still have some left and the DH has not discovered it. That's a win-win!

I bought a large bag of Hemp seeds a few years ago. I bought it for DH to use but he decided he didn't care for it after spending more than $20 for the bag. I finally gave it away.

I forgot to mention that I also added about a tablespoon of olive oil to make it creamyish.
