Dream Kitchen

A cup of coffee is very important to my husband and son.

My dream kitchen would have EVERTHING! coffee related out of the main work area. Don't care if components would duplicate other things in the main kitchen.

This is definitely a fantasy, but ------
It's right up there with having my old sewing/quilting set up back.

If we were ever to remodel my kitchen I would add as much storage as I possibly could. And have a dedicated coffee/tea area.

We have a wet bar off of the breakfast room. Since we don't drink and don't entertain anymore, I turned it into a coffee bar. It works great. Everything is out of the way of the kitchen and since my husband and I drink different coffee, there is room for 2 pots.

Back during the pandemic (bad time) I decided to pull off the back deck as it was standing by a thread it seemed. I wanted a sunroom with windows on 3 sides, glass doors, more cabinets, stairs going down to the basement plus a hallway to keep my everyday jackets I used while working in the gardens. I then decided I might as well do the kitchen too as the sunroom would be attached to that wall anyway. I had dark ebony cabinets back then with an island that was angled crazily too. I went with white cabinets but the same type of cabinets I had before as this house was built in 1900 so wanted to keep some of the same character. I also had an island put in but straight so I had more room around the sink that would be put in the corner. I had a little room off of the kitchen that had some extra cabinets sort of like a pantry so the wall was removed and a real pantry was put in it's place. When the walls were being torn out, we found there had been a door going outside in the pantry area so since the framing was still there, I had them add another window as it was so dark there. Now I have a bright and larger kitchen, pot lights, ceiling fans both in the sunroom and kitchen, a broom closet, more counter space. I love it though it took 5 more months than expected a sit was hard to find materials. I also had to have a split unit (heat/air) unit added as they had to remove some of the baseboard heat from the kitchen air. I don't have a special spot for my coffee pot as it's just me but having more storage cabinets was what I wanted and needed.

I have one countertop for coffee/tea ready items . It doesn't take up much room, Coffee pot, sugar bowl, stirring sticks, the cabinet above holds ground coffee, pods, beans and assorted teas. I don't keep much on my kitchen countertops but the coffee section is a given.

My current kitchen is fine, small but efficient. My problem is with all of the stuff that family members dump into my work space. Don't they know that I work here? However, all that being said, more storage would be nice.

I had a table made out o solid maple as tall a sthe countertops but for the sunroom. I ended up having way too many chairs for the island, 6 too many so my neighbor made the table, I made a quilted tablecloth to protect it from the furbabies as well as the stuff that gets dumped on it as the door everyone uses is just north of it. Once I month, I try to clear off the table but it's still a dumping ground for even me.
