Knot Sew 12-10-2007 04:46 AM

I got this a long time ago on the back of a yeast packet........anyone can make homemade bread.........my family loves fried dough with sauce and cheese........I like mine with butter and applesauce....or bake for the wonderful smell.

6 cups all purpose flour
3Tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 envelope yeast suggest fast rising
2 cups water
1/2 cup milk
3 tablespoons margarine or butter

Set aside one cup of flour............mix all the remaining dry ingredients in a large bowl, yeast included

heat water, milk and margarine until very hot 125 F

add to dry ingredients, adding reserved flour to make a soft dough that does not stick to bowl........a little more flor doesn't hurt

dump the dough on floured surface and kneat abt 8 to 10 min. let dough rest then cut in half........and place in greased bread pans..........with quick rising it will raise double in one hr

bake at 350 to 400 about 30- 35 min

quick break off a chunk and lather with butter..........yumm

My sister Dawn used to make homemade bread once in a while, and everyone would practically wait in the kitchen for it to come out. Poor thing hardly ever got to taste it!

Hi Myra this isn't my recipe, but thought I might answer. Most bread recipe's cannot handle full whole wheat flour. You could try half wheat, half white. If you grind your whole wheat yourself it might work.
