Festive Slices

Made this simple, no-bake recipe from Organic Sisters (with a few slight modifications) and they turned out great!

Here's a link to the recipe: http://organicsisters.com.au/recipe/festive-slice/

We substituted raw cashews for the almonds and dried figs for the dates, because I like figs better and they're also less sweet. Here's a pic of how ours turned out:

If you don't have a food processor (we don't either!), just grate whatever nuts you use very fine and chop the figs/dates as small as you can get them and mix all the ingredients together by hand...works fine!

Added bonus: they're vegan, so a dessert recipe we didn't have to take the time to veganize and for those of you who aren't vegan but have veg(etari)an family members, this is a simple no-bake recipe the whole family will love!

P.S. Makes many more slices...these are just all that are left, lol!

haha! yeah, even though we're vegan the ingredients weren't ones we usually have in the pantry either. but for the holidays we decided to splurge and try them out...we often substituted and didn't put as much emphasis on the ingredients being raw either (used roasted, salted pistachios for example), but it still worked out great! they were worth it...we just made them a second time today!

Ha! Thanks Geri...I have to admit I'm a very sporadic blogger, but once or twice a year I write stuff or post pics for friends and family abroad to look at. Thanks for browsing!
