Flatbread Topping Ideas

While on vacation awhile back, we had some wonderful flatbread apps and pizzas. For the life of me I can't remember what all there was on them! I just made the breads, and now am trying to come up with ideas for toppings! It's frustrating looking at Pinterest as you have to scroll through so much narrative to finally get to the recipes. My time is much better spent here on the quilting board! Lol... TIA!

I have used BBQ sauce with shredded chicken or pork, cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon. Peach salsa with strips of red bell peppers and cheddar, sometimes add shredded chicken. A restaurant here serves fresh mozzarella, basil, dried tomatoes with a drizzle of balsanic reduction.

Aldi has a sun-dried tomato pesto that is delicious! That on flat bread with parmesan cheese sounds yummy to me. I've even taken to spreading it on a sandwich if I only have a small amount left.

Local Farmers Market serves up breakfast pizza on a “cracker crust”. Made in a wood fired oven. Yummy and I’d like to duplicate the crust because toppings are sparse and easy to make. scrambled eggs, shredded cheese, shaved onion.

Pinterest can be great or really annoying! For recipes I'd use other sources. Epicurious, for one is really good. Honesly even a Google search for 'flatbread recipe' would yield results more quickly!

I'm thinking about goat cheese, some roasted veggies and a good balsamic vinegar.

What was your bread recipe?

Thanks for the ideas!! I ended up making pizza with them using roasted veggies and some pepperoni I found in the freezer to please DH. It was ok, but not noteworthy! The bread recipe was good tho...I made them all up and put most of them in the freezer for later.

I like a variety of mushrooms, sauted first. I know, they can be expensive, but you don't need that many. I love the roasted veggies that you used.

Thank you for the link to the bread recipe. Have not used a yeast recipe to cook on the stove top. Printed the recipe as I really like the size and amount of finished breads. Will be making then very soon as a pizza base.
