Food Prepping, Cooking, Baking, Grilling, etc.?
When working with food, I tend to say "I am cooking" only when heat is involved -
when food/ingredients are still cold - I am "prepping" When you work with food - is "everything you do" lumped into the term "cooking"? |
To me it's all making. Making breakfast, making lunch, making supper. From start to finish, I'm making. Sometimes I will say baking if I use the oven.

I think I tend to say "I'm cooking or fixing" supper or lunch, whatever meal, when preparing a meal, hot, cold or in between. Just thought of one thing though, I would not say I am cooking salad. I think I just use the term "fixing" more than "cooking" . I don't know, Bear, I think you've got me going in a circle!

I try to remember to be grateful that 1) I have access to food 2) I can tolerate food 3) I have someplace to prepare it 4) I am still working on being grateful for the clean-up involved with the process! |
Its all part of cooking to me

Since it's my husband and me in the house now. Our meals are sporadic. We rarely eat three meals a day.

I think of food. it's i'm cooking breakfast, making lunch or super.
or packing my lunch for work. Or I'm canning, which means anything being prepared for winter. like today canning sliced carrots and pepper jelly . I can alot from the gardens and orchard. but baking if it comes to pies, cookies and bread. I don't lump it all in one phrase . |
I most likely say that I'm making ....
I will double prep items for 2 meals. |
I just say when asked when a meal will be ready........."It's getting there"
|
I say I’m making for meal things. When I’m baking, I say baking. I think if I started saying prepping, my husband would probably be confused.
