I know not everone likes fruitcakes but I do. Yummy !!!!! Anyone have a recipe to share or just send me all your unwanted fruitcakes. HEHEHE!!!!

Here is one my Mom use to make. It is from the Farm Journal 1954.
Festive Fruit cake (no bake).
Line with waxed paper bottom and sides of a 5-cup loaf or tube pan.
Put into a bowl and let stand until needed.....
1/2 C Pet Evaporated Milk
16 marshmallows, finely cut
3 Tbs. orange juice or alcoholic flavoring

Put into a large bowl.......
4 doz. 2 1/2" graham crackers, rolled into fine crumbs
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. cloves
1/2 C dates, cut fine
1 C. raisins, 1/2 dark and 1/2 golden
3/4 C walnuts, broken
1/3 C candied pineapple, cut fine
1/3 C candied cherries,cut fine
2 Tbs. candied orange peel, cut fine
Add milk mixture. Mix with spoon, then with hands till crumbs are moistened. Press firmly into pan. Decorate with additional fruit and nuts. Cover tightly. Chill 2 days before slicing. Keep in cool place.
Makes one 2 1/4 pound fruit cake.

I have a couple splattered old Farm Journal cookbooks. Never found a bad recipe in any of them.

I REALLLLLLLY wish I could send you my mother'in-law's fruitcake recipe but she died and my SIL has the recipe and makes us a huge cake for Christmas every year that lasts us all year. It's wonderful. SIL said she will someday give me and another SIL the recipe but not YET! The only thing I know is the base of the fruitcake is an applesauce cake then all the fruit and nuts are added and it's to die for. Send me a PM with your address and I'll send you a chuck after Christmas.

Eventually she will give up the recipe but she says not until she's too old to make it any more as this is her special gift to her brothers as a remembrance of their parents who are now gone. All three of the kids loved this cake while growing up and my husband can't wait to get it every Christmas. DSIL says "if I give you the recipe you'll make it" whenever DH wants it then it won't be so special for us when she makes it. SIL is in her mid 70's so I expect one of these days we'll get the cake and the recipe. It is a very special gift to my DH and his brother that they share with everyone. We all love it.

Here is one my mom makes, it's an Ice Box Fruit Cake and can be ready by Christmas, yes...it's yummy!

Ice Box Fruit Cake

1 qt. pecans
1 qt. walnuts
1 lb. marshmallows
1 lb. graham crackers
1 sm. can Pet milk (evaporated)
candied figs
candied cherries----lot's of them
colored pineapple for the top
1 lb. raisins


Crush the crackers very fine, mix with the nuts. Add raisins, cherries and figs.

Melt the marshmallows in the milk. Mix this together with the dry ingredients. Arrange the pineapples in the bottom of a bundt pan. Put mixture on top and pack, pack, pack it well. Keeping your hands wet will help to keep it from sticking to your hands so much. Cover very well and place in the refridgerator for at least 3 weeks.
