Ginger Vinegar
I accidentally made ginger vinegar! I saw a mother forming in one of my jars of ginger bug that I left unintended, so I looked it up. It's a thing! Here is a website that tells about it. She did pretty much the same thing as me. Mine looks like hers. I haven't tasted mine yet. I wanted to be sure of what it was.

It smells heavenly. Still haven't tasted it yet. I think it needs to age more.

First time I had ever heard of a "ginger bug"
Now, what is a "mother" in your context> |
Mother is kind of like a starter for vinegar.

Like Peckish said, a "Mother" is a kind of starter...
Like what you see when making Kombucha. It looks like a flat, semi-clear, gelatinous pancake that floats on top of the liquid. it's always present with homemade vinegars. It looks awful and scary, but it's necessary to generate fermentation. |
