Gluten-Free Soup??

My quilt club is having a holiday party in a few weeks and we're featuring soup. One of our lovely ladies must have a gluten free diet so I'm looking for any flavorful gluten free soups that you all have tried. I'm afraid to try something that hasn't been tasted by someone yet, there's so many things this lady has tried and hasn't liked! She says it's better to try something that someone else has liked then there's more of a chance she may like it. So if anyone knows of a good tasting soup please let me know!!
Thank you

We tried this recently and really liked it. Soup is pretty easy to do gluten free, just stay away from adding pasta.

This is another one we tried, which was super easy and delicious. Corn tortilla chips should be gluten free, but just check the bag, or leave them out.

Am I understanding that you are all going to make soups which are gluten-free? But she might not like what you cook up? And she's already warned you she is a fussy eater? So she's giving you hints to go practice soups to see if you think she will like them? I'm sorry but this sounds beyond -way beyond - discourteous to me.

A can of tomato soup is gluten-free. Chicken broth is gluten-free. Vegetables are gluten-free but grains are not. A cube of beef boullion or a can of consume is gluten-free. There's an easy answer.

Good luck Sasserfrassers!

Gluten free is not something you like or dislike, or even a diet fad ~ it's a serious health issue. For those who have Celiac disease, a gluten free food is absolute necessity. If someone prepares a food with gluten in it, gently wipes off the counter and prepares a gluten free dish secondly, chances are the person with celiac disease will be extremely and possibly violently ill just from the residue gluten. To take the time to make something for someone affected by Celiac is extremely kind and caring for you to do. It's similar to someone who has a nut allergy. Just barely coming in contact with nut residue is potentially life-threatening for them. Celiac would not be life-threatening, but almost!!!Bless you for thinking of her.

Wow, that tuscan turkey one sounds good and so quick.... now I just have to find someone to cook me a turkey :D
Will be watching for any slow cooker type recipes as one of our quilting group of 8 also has celiac disease.

My DH has Celiac & you really have to be careful not to cross contaminate things. You also have to make sure there is no wheat, barley, or rye in what you make. My DH loves my potato soup. I just chink the potatoes & cook till soft. Then add a little milk butter & precooked bacon chunks, salt to taste. The more the butter you add, the better it tastes. A warning tho. If you have used the butter before, it will be cross contaminated. You will have to use a new container of butter. Most things you buy that is gluten free is nasty tasting, but home made stuff isn't so bad.

Yes, this. Please make sure any surfaces or items you are using have not been contacted by anything that might have gluten. This is so kind of you to do.

Not all chicken broth is gluten-free! Read the labels, most of them even some of the vegetable ones are not GF. Mfg's add wheat products to most items because it is addicting! Bouillon is not necessarily GF..........Corn is GF unless it has been messed with by humans.

Anything with wheat, spelt, rye, etc, etc, are Gluten. Several great websites that list what gluten is are online and can be found in an easy search.

Living gluten free is a challenge [I've been GF for 1 1/2 years due to my health] but I don't make anyone specially prepare food for me. I bring what I can eat if their will be any question.
It is very nice of you to do the research and give this a try.

I forgot the onions in the potato soup I sent earlier. Sorry. You also have to read on things that says gluten free as sometimes the labels will say processed in a factory with wheat products. If this is on the label, it will be cross contaminated so don't buy it. I, like Tiggersmom, take stuff for my DH when we go to special dinners. He also can't eat anything that has mushrooms or pineapple in it, so I always ask. Most corn meal has flour added to it. But there is gluten free ones made buy Quaker. That is what I use to make dressing out of & it is yummy.
