I am searching for some ideas! I am having a Adult Birthday Party in a week and was wondering if you have a good recipe that works well without using the oven.

Colorful Pasta Salad
1 pkg multicolored noodles, cooked and drained 1 can black olives, drained 1 can green olives, drained 1 small package pine nuts 1 med red onion, chopped 1 pkg grape tomatoes 1 pkg provolone cheese, cut into small squares 1 pg pepperoni's carrots, chopped green peppers, chopped red peppers, chopped 1 pkg dry Zesty Italian dressing (sprinkle onto hot pasta after draining pasta) 1 bottle Zesty Italian dressing, Pour onto salad and allow to marinate 1-2 hours before serving. I like this because it can be made ahead. I usually don't have any leftovers. |
Are you looking for slow cooker? BBQ? Smoker? or just appetizer type stuff? Microwave heating?
How fancy? Scallops wrapped in bacon can be put in microwave. Just pre-cook bacon slightly then wrap around scallops and nuke. |
You can make precook some pasta, and spaghetti sauce. Then layer sauce, pasta, cheese onions and olives and repeat in your crock pot and set it on low. Kind of like a lasagna in a crocker. I've done that for years and have taken it to potlucks.

I am really looking for anything. Appitizer , crock pot dessert etc. I have been serving the same things for years and since the Board is great at sharing, I thought I would try here. Just whatever you would would make that is something that does not require heating up the house.

I make different versions of a dessert called "Ambrosia", often substituting plain yoghurt for the cream. No cooking, just mix all the ingredients together and chill in the fridge for two hours. It is even better the next day. You can vary the fruits.\The basic recipe can be found at the address below:

Seven layer dip is always good.

Check out the recipe area on this forum. There are a lot of lovely recipes there..not too sure how many are no oven, but probably lots. There is where my no bake Mini Cheeseburger cookies recipe is.

I do a pasta salad that is yummy.
Mix together 3 cups cooked pasta of your choice. 1 package frozen pea's uncooked. 1 cup cheese cut in small squares 1 can chunk chicken or tuna drained. mix in enough mayo to cover all. another one I do is, I call a pickle wrap package of thin sliced turkey or ham sand witch meat. spread cream cheese on meat slices. put a dill pickle in the middle & wrap the cream cheese & meat around it. then slice it about 1 inch bite sizes. I do have to warn you that this can be a little messy to make so you will want to make them the day before. But they are soooooo good. Both of these go over really good. |
Ohhhhhhh Love the pickle wraps!!!

You rascal, I was going to do the ham, cream cheese and pickles. My favorite!

Crock Pot BBQ
You need: 1 3-5 lb roast, pork or beef and 2 bottles of BBQ sauce, your favorite flavor THE NIGHT BEFORE----- Cut the roast in 5-6 big chunks, put in crock pot, pour in one bottle BBQ sauce, put on high and let cook all night. IN THE MORNING----- Pour off all of the liquid from cooking, shred the meat, pour on the other bottle of BBQ sauce, stir well and put on low all day until dinner time. Serve on hamburger buns or onion rolls. Being from Georgia, I prefer hickory smoke sauce but I've used mustard-based and several other kinds...and you just can't go wrong! |
Tuna salad is always a hit. Don't laugh but I take the biggest pan of fried bacon to most potlucks. It's the first food gone.

In my crockpots that would be burnt and inedible. Guess we need to know our crockpots. Sounds delicious though. |
My newer slo cooker only does good on low. The high setting is a boil....way too hot for slow cooking.I have to pick & choose recipes with this SC.

I do the same with green onions instead of the pickles, those are always a big hit here.
