I'd love to have a tea party!
It's so beautiful out right now. Perfect time for a tea party with the dau and friends. Got any good recipes for tea fare?
Thanks, ~ C |
I will join you for a "nice" cup of tea. My DMIL always called it "nice" and it was poured into a china cup. Plus there was always a tin of butter cookies to enjoy.
Do you have the pretty teapots? I heat the water in the microwave so really no help at all. Enjoy your party! |
When I've gone to tea, there were tiny sandwiches with no crusts on the bread, scones with clotted cream, and jam. There may have been some small cookies also. Sorry, I have no recipes. There were also a few different teas. Tea is such a fun thing to do!

Yes! My latest obsession is Goat cheese & peppered jam. You can use a croissant and make a sandwich or just crackers, but spead the goat cheese, top with some crushed walnuts and any flavor of peppered jam. I currently have a peach jam which has a bit of orange peel and red pepper flakes, but I have seen a raspberry jalapeno too...Delicious :-)

Does anyone have any nice tea recipes, especially for green tea?

Dark bread (preferred round loaf) with cheese spread. Top with a few sliced green pimento olives. That brings back memories.

Cucumber sandwiches, Boston brown bread (comes in a can) with cream cheese pineapple spread in between. Look up tea party, recipes on Google. You should find some. No crusts on sandwiches. Everything is small and not oversized.

The current edition of Food Network Magazine has a whole section of tiny sandwiches that are perfect for tea!
|
You should join the DAR. They are very big on teas (or at least they were when I was active with them). Mostly the food consisted of finger sandwiches made with ham or chicken salad, small cookies and occasionally other desserts. I enjoyed them thoroughly. Don't forget your hat and white gloves!

Scones with clotted cream and jam are a must. Also sandwiches, and cake. Must have copious amounts of tea to wash it all down. I have a really nice scone recipe let me know if you would like it.
|
Yes yes! Your scone recipe please...perhaps on a new thread!

Oh, you are right, the weather is perfect for an outdoor tea party. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and it has been gorgeous lately.
If you have any of the Pampered Chef's bread cans for baking you can make nice little egg salad sandwiches (just make sure you chop the egg whites really small) cucumber cream cheese sandwiches and spread them on the little bread shapes. I have the cans in the square, scalloped and heart-shaped versions. Just make sure you grease the tins very well before putting in the bread dough to let it rise. Make that really, really well. If it isn't greased well, you will never get the bread out of the cylinder. Ask me how I know... You could make or buy some colorful petit fores or mini cakes or sweet breads like pumpkin or banana bread. I suppose you could get as elaborate or simple as you want. Wouldn't it be fun if you got your friends together and came up with a menu and then share the work around. That way it wouldn't be too much of a job for anyone. I have been collecting tea pots and tea cups for years and I could imagine all different colors of cups and tea pots on your table with different teas. I would use some really different and special teas. One of my favorites is Rose Tea. Let us know what you come up with and how the tea party went... |
