Indian Recipes?
The DH and I are planning a trip to India next year, so, being the foodie that I am, I want to learn as much as I can about Indian foods before I go. I bought a couple of cookbooks and have been looking at a few sites. Does anyone have a good, authentic, Indian recipe to share?
Thanks, C |
I don't have any recipes but have new Indian neighbors that just moved in next door. I had them over for Cheese Enchiladas for supper one night & they asked if we liked Indian food. We've never eaten it so they suggested taking us to an Indian buffet so we could try different foods & then they could cook us a meal by knowing what foods we liked from their culture. Maybe you could do something like that....try a variety before you go.

India has a wide variety of cuisine, and depending on the area/s that you are visiting, fish, meat, or vegetarian styles will be more prominent in some areas more than others. Kerala, for instance, has a very different food style to other parts of the country. Madhur Jaffrey has written lots of recipe books, and I am sure you could find her TV cooking shows on YouTube, and books in the library. She is wonderful, and has a very easy way of describing and demonstrating her recipes. There are many other excellent Indian cooks too of course, and I really like these two guys:the incredible spice men. https://www.bbc.com/food/programmes/b0394f74 I would look at a lot of books, and try some recipes from them. |

My Indian spices just came in the mail! I'm so excited! I went online and ordered a variety of ingredients that my Indian cookbook was calling for. Some of them I can't even pronounce. Others include curry leaves, garam masala, fenugreek leaves. Fun! Now if it would just cool down so that I can heat things up in the kitchen...I'm ready to roll!
