An interesting List of Breads

I found this interesting, international list of breads on the Travel page of CNN today: https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/w...ads/index.html . I'm going to bookmark it and see how many recipes I can find for the different breads that they list. It's too hot to bake now, but once the cooler weather starts in, I'm gonna start baking!

If anyone has a recipe for any of these, please post.

What a great list of breads. A lot of them resemble our tortillas. I've made Irish Soda Bread in the past & will try to see if I still have my recipe to post here.

Great list to look at. I love bread and it is a big downfall of mine. There is a bakery just down the street from me and I buy their Prairie bread and it is delicious. Thanks for sharing the list.

The Karavai bread from Russia is a work of art. Beautiful!

I love homemade white bread dough shaped into big buns, warm with lots of butter. Of course, I also love yeast glazed donuts.

Good thing I am too lazy to make them or I would be on a TV show.

I know...bread and butter. What could be better? However, the carbs and fat and just too much for my aging body. I think I'll dedicate fall/winter/spring 2020-2021 to attacking this list. Otherwise, I'd try them all in a week and that would not be good.

Very interesting list. Delicious list!!! I am Mexican and make flour and corn tortillas from scratch. My kids (all grown) just love when I make them homemade tortillas. In fact, my little cousin has told me she wants to know how to make them. Bread with butter is truly a weakness for me, just like tortillas with butter. Thanks for sharing the link!

I found my recipe for Irish Soda Bread. It's been many, many years since I made it & I don't know how many loaves this recipe makes but with 8 cups of flour I would guess that it would make 2 loaves. I remember it being very, very good.

Irish Soda Bread
8 cups flour
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 T. caraway seeds
3 cups raisins
3 cups buttermilk
4 T. melted butter

Mix dry ingredients, add buttermilk & mix well. Form into oval or round loaves. Brush top of loaves with melted butter. Place on greased cookie sheet & bake at 350 deg. for approximately 1 hour. This is best when sliced & spread with butter and toasted in the broiler.
