Irish Soda Bread

4 Cups Flour
¾ Cup Sugar
1 Tsp. Baking Soda
½ Tsp. Baking Powder
2 Tbl. Caraway Seeds
¾ Cup Raisins
2 Eggs
1½ Cups Buttermilk
2 Tbl. Melted Butter

Put all dry ingredients in big bowl, stir. Beat eggs, add buttermilk and butter, then add wet mixture to dry and mix until moist. A clean hand does best job of mixing.

Pour into greased circular pan.

Bake at 350° about an hour or until browned on top.

YUM, what would happen if caraway seeds were left out, one thing hubby won't eat.

I've made it both ways and it was good.

I'll have to try your recipe its just a bit different than mine. Mine doesn't call for caraway seeds, so marieg, I'm sure it would be okee dokee without them. But then again, mine doesn't call for raisins either, but I bet its even better with them!! Thanks Moonpi!

I love Irish soda bread, but most of all I love it with whole wheat flour!!!!!! Nice with a bowl of hearty soup or stew..(if you leave out the raisins)....now my mouth is watering
