Hi, I was wondering if there is such a recipe for mixing strawberries and nanking cherries. I found one recipe but it calls for dark cherries.

I don't know what a nanking cherry is but I have made lots of jams and jellies over the years. Sometimes I don't have enough of one fruit so I add something else. Like blackberry/black raspberry/cherry juice combination. It will all taste good.

Go for it.

I would like to know what a nanking cherry is, also. I make cherry jam every year, but don't know if they nank or not.

I think the flavor of a nanking cherry is closer to a pie cherry and the darker red they get the sweeter they are. I have them as hedges. They bloom early and the birds love the berries. They are in size between chokecherries and pie cherries and have seeds the size of chokecherries. Better for jelly. I did spend a lot of time seeding them and drying some. Too much time I think next ime I will do jelly or syrup.
