July 4th emnu

We're having a pretty traditional BBQ for the 4th with burgers and brats, potato salad, corn on the cob, etc. Am trying a new (to me) cake for dessert: a star-shaped Jello poke cake frosted with a pudding-cool whip mix and decorated with strawberries and blueberries. (Hope it turns out!)

What's on the menu at your house? Trying anything new? Have fun!

We don't have anything fun planned. But it sounds like you're having all the fixings for a great picnic!

Our Logan's Roadhouse is having " buy 1 entrée and get the second one FREE ". I will cook on Saturday and Sunday but NOT on the Fourth !

Family picnic with all kinds of good stuff. I'm in charge of hot dogs for the little ones but I love a good hot dog also! :)

My daughter and two grandsons are flying in from across the country; flight landing at 7:15 and we're trying to make it to fireworks so I think dinner tonight will be some fast food place between the airport and fireworks. It's Ok, though.....MY GRANDSONS WILL BE HERE!!!!!!!!!

Billi 07-04-2014 08:53 AM

It's just me and mr Bill but we are going for it anyway BBQ chicken, BBQ baby back ribs, pasta salad, baked beans, chopped raw veggies (the usual suspects) and a bowl full of cherries. All of it home made by me. But I'm making enough that there will be very little or possibly no other cooking or dishes the rest of this weekend. Gotta love paper plates and leftovers.

ooo, Francie--that "grown up lemonade" sounds good!

Dakotamaid-- hot dogs and kids...our grands love them, too!

Teacherbailey--grandsons coming--now That's something to really celebrate. Enjoy

Billi--good for you to make the effort to celebrate... and then get to enjoy the rest of the weekend! I put "leftovers" on the menu for tomorrow, too. Hope there are some!

Enjoy your holiday, Everyone!

Went to an early 4th breakfast, so will stay home and have casserole while sitting on the deck watching fireworks all the valley. Really have a great view. Can see 10-20 different sites from close to far away.

We live in a small town and belong to the American Legion. Every 4th, the city has a fireworks display on the school grounds. One of our Am Legion members lives across the street from the fireworks display, so every year a bunch of members meet at his house with food to share, beverages and lawn chairs to watch the fireworks. Great fun!

I made meatloaf and had yellow beets and biscuits for the side dishes. Nobody home but me, so I cooked what I wanted.

sdeaaz(did I get that right?)--LOL!!! I tried to correct the typo after it posted but couldn't figure it out. Good thing I don't have to make my living typing--I'd be skinny! I just call it my own private language!!
