Jumbles (old fashioned cut out cookies--for girls on Live Chat--and anyone else)

6 cups of flour (don't add any more)
2 cups sugar
1 good cup butter
2 eggs
1 cup of milk with 1/2 tsp baking soda dissolved in it
2 tsp baking powder
Bake at 375 degrees for 6 mins (test the first tray to be sure your oven agrees)

Beat butter and sugar together till just nice and smoothe--don't over beat
Add eggs and beat just till mixed
Sift the flower into the batter alternating with the milk--don't handle any more than necessary
I put the baking soda in the sifter with the flour
Place in frig over night
Since these are cut out cookies, don't handle dough any more than necessary
You can't bake right away after mixing because they are pretty hard to handle unless very cold--flour up your cutting board and rolling pin and your hands and cookie cutters a little.ENJOY

Sounds good.....will have to try in the New Year. After we finish the kilos of Christmas 'stuff'.

Old Hair Twister--I put it in the recipe--375 for 6 mins. in mine. Check first tray of cookies as it bakes and then write it down. Put your finger on top lightly and if it feels as if it isn't done, it probably isn't done. Ovens vary.

Nice slightly soft cookie--sort of like sand tarts, but not crisp.
