Many years ago I had a recipe for a breakfast cookie that used dried milk, orange juice, and oatmeal as the main ingredients.

Does this sound familiar to any of you great cooks or do you have any alternatives? I'm going camping with 5 teens.:)

Sounds interesting!

Trying to find things that they will eat is the biggest challenge.

I am going to try this recipe. Liked that you listed being able to use splenda. Good for a diabetic. Thanks for sharing.

That's been a popular recipe with WW members!

I make mine using fresh/frozen cranberries, instead of the raisins ... saves on teh PPVs! :) And oh so delicious and colourful with cranberries!

Both recipes sound good. What a great idea.

Cookies with bacon. Sounds good to me, so does the other recipe. One of our local store bakeries makes a breakfast cookie, as far as I can tell, it is a oatmeal cookie with bran and flax in it and dried cranberries, raisins and slivered almonds are added. They are delicous, but have never attempted to make them.

Try using a muffin mix, adding a cup of quick oats, some cranberry raisins, chopped walnuts, coconut, etc. I add an egg to the recommended amount of water. The "Cran-orange" muffin mix by Pillsbury is a good one. (I seldom use a recipe since I have been cooking for several decades...) Then you can either make drop cookies, or cook in a pan like brownies and cut into squares. My husband loves these. I like the sound of the cookies with bacon too!!

Thx for the recipe, I plan on making them, I am always looking for something good and different to make. Have a wonderful day! Lura

Depends on if they are boys or girls. Boys will eat anything. Boy Scouts will eat anything and will be very helpful in doing a lot of the cooking. Boys will even do most of the cooking themselves, and do a pretty good job at it, in spite of not knowing where their mother keeps the refrigerator and non-snack foods at home.

Girls...well, all it takes is for one of them to squeal that there's a bug looking at her food and all of them will be on instant diets, then when the dishes are washed and food is put away, everyone will suddenly be weak with hunger, but will have strength enough to hike back 5 miles to a snack shop. Or if nice looking boys are around, they will cheerfully eat fried leaves and snakes if it would make one of the boys smile at them!!!

Guess you could use an oatmeal cookie recipe and sub the liquid with orange juice.
