I had a recipe years ago , it was a self - crust pumpkin pie. you greased and floured the pie pan and then poured your pumpkin mixture in it. when it baked it just made a thin soft crust. And now I can't find it . Does anyone have the recipe? Also I bought a couple cans of pumpkin pie filling and all the recipes I am finding are calling for pumpkin puree and not pie filling. What is the difference and can I still use it?
Thank you , Elaine

Pumpkin pie filling already has spices in it. Pumpkin puree is just pumkin. I'd think you could use the pie filling as long as you adjust the spices accordingly.

Did you Google self crust pumpkin pie? Several pop up when I do. Maybe one will work for you.

Yep , I googled it , went through the first 12 pages. And it's not the one using Bisquick , either. I have tons of recipes and books; I have been organizing them the last few years, so who knows what happened to that recipe!

Thanks so much for the Spark recipe, pretty low calorie.

Here`s one with Bisquick that makes its own crust.

3/4 C Sugar
1/2 C Bisquick
2 TBSP Butter
1 13 oz can evaporated milk
2 eggs
1 16 oz can pumpkin
2 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
2 tsp vanilla

Heat oven to 350°
Grease pie pan
Beat all ingredients till smooth
Pour in pie pan
Bake 50-55 minutes

My recipe doesn`t state what kind of pumkin but I assume it`s puree since they`re adding pumpkin pie spice. I would think you could substitute pie filling and skip the spice?

I just buy the can that says, canned pumpkin.

This is the recipe I have used for years, it's one of the Impossible Pie recipes that Betty Crocker put out a long time ago. Google Impossible Pie and you will get into the spot where you can find all different kinds.

My very most favorite is the Custard Pie, no muss, no fuss, no having to scald milk. I don't even have a blender anymore, just mix it up with the hand mixer. I love it that they make their own crusts. They kept adding more and now you can fix dinner entrees. We love the Taco Pie and the Broccoli-Egg.
