I am looking to purchase a bread machine. Are there any suggestions as to which bread machine you recommend and you are happy with. Thank you,

sorry i cant help with that

sorry I can't help either, I always thought it would be cool to make my own bread
I will follow this thread |
I have had 3! Two Osters and a Breadman.
I perferred the Oster. I loved mine...haven't made any bread in a while. I made mine from scratch and also brought the box mix. Both ways are great. When you use it make sure you put ingredients into tub in order. yeast is always last. I don't think the brand really matters. My first one was a 1lb loaf and the last two were 2lb loafs. You can also make dough for pretzels, pizza and other intersting things. You will get a recipe booklet with it and they have great recipes. Have fun! |
I can't say what brand, but don't get smaller than a 2lb capacity.

I have a Breadman. I prefer it because it has a gluten free cycle which only kneads the dough once. I use spelt flour and even though it's not GF it can't take the extra kneading of a regular machine.

I have a Breadman machine.Mine makes bread in a loaf shape instead of round. You can find them in Kohls. Also, look up bread machines on line & read the reviews.

I have a Westbend & really like it. It is probably close to 20 yrs. old. Don't use it a lot but at Christmas time making dough for cinnamon rolls for a craft show. Have made several different kinds of breads in it & they have always been scrumptious.

I found mine quite "touchy"...or its me...sometimes great turnout and sometimes a lump..gave it up...I have the one that looks like a loaf of bread not the upright one. Keep thinking I will try again but...

My bread machine is a Wal-Mart cheapie. I don't know what brand. It works fine. The main feature I'd look for is a timer you can set so the bread will be done when you get home. It's nice to leave to do things and come home to a crockpot full of stew and hot bread.

I have a Toastmaster and like it very much. The loaves are regular loaf shaped and they release quite nicely from the pan when done. Low cost too! :-)

I have two that I use often. Make sure if you by one that it has a dough cycle on it. I use that cycle often for dinner rolls, French bread, Italian bread, challah, and cinnamon rolls. I've made hamburg buns, hotdog buns, and pizza dough. It makes it so easy when I can let the machine do all the work and take it out to shape it. My one even has a butter cycle that I can make homemade butter. I haven't done that but the recipes sound good. I can get home from work and have homemade bread done for dinner by the time my husband gets home from work.

I'm interested in this thread as well, I have been making all our bread by hand this past year. Delicious but time consuming...I am looking at the expensive bread maker that King Arther flour sells...but is very spendy.

Thank you all for your imput. I have the West Bend "Just for Dinner" bread machine. It makes a small loaf of bread for 3-4 people servings. It's done in 45 minutes and the bread comes out perfect, but am looking for a larger bread machine. Will check out the Breadman and the Oster. Thanks again.
