Maple Nut Squares - bar cookie
I took this recipe
http://allrecipes.com/recipe/blonde-...es/detail.aspx And doubled it, but used less sugar and more flour. And added maple flavoring instead of vanilla. so here it is 1/2 cup butter (no substitutes), melted 1 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 2 egg 2 teaspoon maple extract 2 cup all-purpose flour 2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts In a mixing bowl, beat the butter, sugar, egg and extract. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to sugar mixture and mix well. fold in nuts. Spread in a greased 9 x 13. baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees F for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into squares. If you follow the original recipe on the website, they are almost TOO good - very sweet and candy- like. The modified recipe, they are more like a cake and have a chance of making it into the cookie jar instead of being eaten right from the pan!! |
Going to have to try this.

Thanks...sounds awesome.

Sounds just perfect for our guild meeting. How much less sugar and how much more flour? Thanks

The final recipe as modified by me is the one on the page. I would use even less sugar next time, maybe 1 1/4 cups.

Sounds like a wonderful recipe. Can't wait to try it.
