Maple Season

Found this recipe over the winter and it is yummy! For spring lettuce and might even work for coleslaw dressing.

3 parts mayonnaise
2 parts maple syrup
1 part vinegar

Blend till smooth and serve over fresh spring greens.

Yummy!

mmmmmm Maple!!!
Here's another one, that I have made for years now.

Spiced Maple Vinaigrette

1 tbsp. Dijon mustard
3 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
3 tbsp. lemon juice
1/3 cup maple syrup
¼ cup canola oil
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. salt
fresh ground pepper

Shake together or blend with immersion blender.
Keeps well in the frig. Shake well before using.

I prefer it mixed with the immersion blender, as it gets a nice opaque look, and separates less.
Delicious on on any sort of a green salad.
I especially like it topped with dried cranberries, toasted walnuts (or pecans) and feta cheese.

Bon Appetit! .... a Canadian one, with that maple syrup in there!!!! :)

Both these recipes sound great - going to try each of them. I have a friend who makes maple syrup so I've shared the recipes with her too.

Oh yes ....... a taste test would be perfect!

One year for Christmas our family exchange theme was "liquid".
Quite the variety of gifts, from water glasses (hold liquids) to any type of liquid you can imagine.

I did a maple "liquid" theme .... made this vinaigrettte and included a jug of maple syrup.
Maple BBQ sauce. Maple Mustard. Maple Hot Chocolate Mix. Maple Butter Tart Squares.
And other maple things, mostly liquid or liquidish.
But of course, I had to add some maple sugar to the gift basket! :)

A true patriot, I use maple syrup as much as I can, I'm always looking for more ideas.

How about sharing some other favourite maple recipes?

After all "tis the season"! :D

I sauté sliced apples (peeled or unpeeled) in butter to desired doneness. Add maple syrup and cinnamon. Simmer about 5-10 minutes. Great on oatmeal or vanilla ice ice cream
