My Stevia is Green.

A while back, I posted about growing stevia and everyone gave me their wonderful tips. So...the stevia grew, I harvested and dried it and now I have stevia powder. Yes, it's very sweet, but it's green and floats on my coffee and does not dissolve. :( I'm using it in smoothies, but I think that the green color would not look so great in other concoctions. What to do? Am I missing a step here?

Thanks,
C

did you sun dry it first or just dehydrate it and then powder it. I let it sit in the sun for a couple days after harvesting then put it in my dehydrator then powder it in my magic bullet. Works for me and not so green

I picked my stevia leaves and put them into a bowl. Now if I want to use some, I put some into the liquid and strain that. I get the sweetness buy no floating.

Good hints about drying and using the homegrown stevia, I best grow some next year.

My Tea Lady warned me to not stew the stevia and put it in for very short periods until you get your desired results, I put mine in a tea ball. Now I know about how much to put in and for how long.

I use store bought Stevia all the time but where do I get the Stevia plant? Would love to try this method of getting Stevia powder

We can buy the plants in our nursery in the spring and a lot of the seed companies carry the seeds. Not easy to grow but worth it!

I've tried growing stevia from seed but didn't have good luck getting it started. This year I bought one plant and it grew easily in a pot in a sunny spot on the porch. It made about a 1/4 cup of powdered sweetener. Next year, I'll get about a dozen plants.

Thank you lwbuchholz for letting me know where I can get a Stevia plant.
I see you are from Montana. I was born and raised in Montana and I still miss that part of the country.
