Need "new" recipe for a salad for Thanksgiving

We are invited to my Aunt's house for Thanksgiving. Any ideas for a different salad?

I have served this one for the past several years and every year it looks like the bowl is licked clean. It is very tasty. It is sweet but tart, crunchy and spicy, just like the recipe says.http://food52.com/recipes/1666-arugu...te-vinaigrette

What type are you looking for? Fruit salad, green salad?

Zinda 11-13-2014 03:59 PM

Any type of different would be great!

I make one similar to FabStripper but I use romaine, strawberries, candied pecans and chevre cheese. I use Ken's light balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Never any leftovers. Any fruit actually would be good.

We make a green salad of romaine, red onion rings, mandarin oranges and toasted pine nuts. Top off with a raspberry vinegarette. Another favorite gelled salad is lemon jello made with orange juice for half the water. Add one grapefruit and one can of mandarin oranges (drained). The orange juice makes the jello opaque. We like citrus with ham or turkey.

I have the same problem. I was thinking of one like OCquilter. I add spinach to leaf lettuce, strawberries, candied walnuts but no cheese. I make my own poppy seed vinaigrette. Last year I made the layered salad and some wouldn't eat it because I put peas in it. It told them just don't eat the peas. But they are still in there and wouldn't eat it. Sad.

Cranberry Fluff

1 bag fresh cranberries
3/4 c. sugar
1 can crushed pineapple (15 oz.), drained
3 c. miniature marshmallows
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1 tub of regular Cool Whip (not fat-free as it collapses)

The day before serving: Pick over cranberries, wash and chop in food
processor. Put chopped cranberries in a large bowl and add 3/4 c.
sugar and 3 c. miniature marshmallows. Cover and refrigerate
overnight and if possible, stir several times.

Drain the pineapple and refrigerate. Just before serving, add the
drained crushed pineapple, nuts and thawed tub of Cool Whip.

This is a favorite for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Serves 8
to 10.

Something my mother used to do when we were kids. Take some orange jello and put into a square cake pan. Add pineapple chunks, and grated un-cooked carrots. Let it set up, and have at it. We LOVED it.

Ilovequilts34, I just saved your recipe. It sounds YUMMY!!
