A new dessert

My Aunt shared this recipe with my sister who shared it with me. My DH chose it over his favorite banana pudding tonight. That says a lot. Hope you enjoy it too!

layer a 9x 13 casserole dish with vanilla wafers. Mix together 1 can of sweetened condensed milk and 1/4 cup of lemon juice and one can crushed pineapple (juice included) and pour over wafers. Then put a layer of cool whip over that. Then add another layer of vanilla wafers and top with more cool whip. Garnish with coconut and marachino cherries and nuts if desired. Let sit overnight in fridge before serving. ( you can eat it right away but is better if it sits cause the cookies soak up all the juices and makes it cake like)
Enjoy!!!

Yum. Wondering the calorie count. But then who would even count them while enjoying this...will bookmark to try. Thanks for posting :)

I did have some banana pudding left over at the same time I had this left over and I combined the two together and it was pretty good. So, yep, bananas would be good too.

I think I would call it "Just Almost Split" hehehehee!

We make a version called Millionaire pie here in the Deep South. This version is from Cook.com

We add coconut to the mixture and bananas if we have them and don't put the pineapple rings on top. Make it, put it in your fridge and serve when cold. It is scrumptious. This could be layered as a parfait with vanilla wafers. If you add chocolate syrup as a topping, you have a version called Banana Split Pie.

MILLIONAIRE PIES

Printed from COOKS.COM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2 graham crusts
1 lg. can crushed pineapple, drained
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1/2 c. lemon juice
1 can sweet condensed milk
1 container Cool Whip
Cherries
1 can sliced pineapple rings

Mix lemon juice and condensed milk together. Add pineapple, Cool Whip and pecans. Mix well. Divide the mixture into the 2 crusts. Top with cherries and pineapple rings. Chill for at least 1 hour.

My thoughts exactly. What's a few banana slices thrown in there too. Forget the calorie count - it's probably "over the moon" .

Both of these sound so super good and easy. They are copying as I write this!

thimblebug6000 03-30-2014 07:41 PM

Sounds yummy and I don't usually think about calories. Just for interest sake I see it says 982 cal per 1 cup condensed milk; a bite size vanilla wafer has 13 cal; okay...that's enough of the serious stuff. Enjoy your goodies!

I love taking something like this to the guild meetings or other group events. That way, I can have my cake and eat it too, but not the whole darn thing :-)

At our little church we have sandwiches every Sunday night and one person brings dessert and this will definitely be the first one I make in May.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing.

When I was a child, my Mother made these a lot. She called them "Fireless Cakes'.

Please share with me how many boxes of vanilla wafers and the size of the cool whip container required for this recipe. It sounds good.

ptquilts 04-02-2014 12:43 PM

have you ever made it with real whipped cream? Not a fan of Cool Whip and wondering how it would come out.

Dee G 04-03-2014 03:17 AM

Yummy! Will make it for the next church potluck! Thanks for sharing!

irishrose 04-05-2014 04:10 PM

My sister makes this with shortbread cookies (the ones with the horse's head on them) and bananas. It goes fast at parties. Very yummy.

fred singer 04-05-2014 04:44 PM

sounds delicious

Tothill 04-05-2014 05:02 PM

I may try this with whipped cream. We do not eat Cool Whip in our house.

Madgie Rae 04-06-2014 01:16 PM

What size crushed pineapple...the larger one?

judylg 04-06-2014 07:30 PM

Sounds like a great recipe and looks easy to put together, I like desserts that do not take hours to put together. Better they sit overnight to soften cookies. Thanks for sharing.

zennia 04-07-2014 04:31 AM

Sounds like something I should make for our church coffee hour.

Elisabrat 04-07-2014 05:45 PM

I wish I could say we wouldn't eat this but truth is omg this sounds awfully good and my dh has no trouble with cool whip at all. I just have to wait now for someone to come over so I have an excuse to make a whole tray full. I can see it going, going, going and well with only two people here that is NOT a good plan. Oh company! come on over!!

#1piecemaker 04-07-2014 05:50 PM

I don't see any reason why you couldn't use whipped cream!! You could even add some pudding if you wanted to.

Nanny's dollface 04-07-2014 06:21 PM

This sounds yummy. I guess the diet needs to wait until next week! Lol

Madgie Rae 04-12-2014 08:30 AM

What size crushed pineapple . . . Please?????????????????????
