Not sure if this will help you ...but we plant potatoes each year.. this year things where diffrent in the potatoe world... we grew Kenabec which are white and the Norlands which are Red ones..ours bloomed 3 times?? not sure why, but the did and we never had this happen before... I did Can some of the white ones.. and the red ones cooked just fine.. mashed and fried and all that ok.. but we dug ours on early September.. not sure if that makes a diffrence or not. Not sure why yours are mushie pastie.. some of ours rotted in the ground because of all the rain we have had... not sure if all this will help you or not guess it is my 2 cents worth.

Cube them then toss with oil and spices. put them in a layer on a cookie sheet. put them in a screaming hot oven 450-500 and let them roast.

Red potatoes make great potato salad, and I like to roast them whole alongside a chicken or roast. Also, not great for the blood pressure, is Salt Potatoes, where you boil them in very salty water, then toss with butter and parsley. The teeny ones make great potato soup.

Also, if you have a cold cellar, the moisture that makes them mushy, will come out of them as they store.

I love red potatoes cooked in the microwave.

Wash and chop them into quarter's
Put them into a casserole dish that has a lid
add 1 tbl spoon of olive oil and toss them
sprinkle on your favorite seasonings and toss to coat evenly....I love to experiment
put the lid on and cook... usually a min of 6 minutes for 5-6 potatoes
the potatoes come out very moist

I also love to add leftover meats/vegs when the potatoes are almost done...frozen vegetables at the beginning... it makes a good quick meal

Amma, we do them on the bbq the same way, but wrapped in foil...very good..

Reds are my favorite fried potato. I have scrubbed them good and cubed them with skins on. Then put a little olive oil on a cookie sheet, toss potatoes to get oil on all sides of the cubes. Sprinkle on your favorite spices (I usually use the packet for italian dressing). Bake at 350 until cooked through.

My favorite is fresh green beans, red potatoes and a bit of crumbled crisp bacon. I cook the beans and potatoes in water with a few drops of ex virg olive oil and add the bacon at the end of cooking. Yum
