Not a Recipe --- BUT HOW TO REMOVE WALLPAPER
 

I thought this would be a handy hint for all those handymen type people
My neighbour & I painted some of her rooms last year & we were given this handy hint on how to remove wallpaper
We used a spray bottle, filled it with hot water & added about 1/2 cup Bleach to about 1/4 gallon Squirt it onto the wallpaper leave for 5-10 minutes & the glue melts allowing you to peel away the paper

thank you come spring will be trying that. we have the vinyle (sp) wallpaper i think is as old as the house and are having a hard time getting it off

I would be a little concerned about fumes with bleach, have you ever tried scoring the paper with that round tool called a paper tiger, then spraying with a mixture of vinegar and water? Works like a charm. As its said...more than one way to skin a cat.
The house we bought 24 years ago had wallpaper on every wall, since they were the first owners all of the paper was put on top of one coat of builders grade paint....what a pain!

Also if you fill the bottle up with 3/4 fabric softner - cheap brand and the rest water it, spray it on wait about 5 mins it peels right off and your house smells great!

I used the paper tiger and white vinegar to remove about 14 layers of wallpaper from the walls in my closet. Talk about a time warp! I sprayed on straight vinegar because there were so many layers. Worked great! One warning about using the white vinegar - the longer I used it the more I wanted pickles! Make sure you have a least one jar of pickles in the house before you start the spraying.

Take it from one who knows............... the hard way................. go to Lowes, Home Depot, or any hardware store and get TSP. Mix it up according to either directions or the advice in the store.

What a horror story I lived trying to get paper off a wall that was never prepped, never painted. TSP SAVED ME. TSP stands for trisodium phosphate. It is actually an industrial cleaner (and also a food additive) and it cuts through grease and grim like crazy. I swear by this stuff and have also used it to "degloss" painted areas and then don't have to sand. Anyway,............ back to the wallpaper story............

Use the diluted TSP powder double strength and soak the paper with a sponge or use a spray bottle. Just please remember to wear gloves and make certain that it doesn't get in the eyes. This is serious stuff.

I will be trying this really soon. Thanks for the tip, I'm wanting to remove wallpaper from a very large bathroom and hoping it will not take me too long to do it. Sound like this could really help.
