Old standby
Dad was a meat & potato guy. We rarely had a hot dish but our Home Ec teacher gave us this recipe (1960’s) and I still make it.
Peel & cut up potatoes, cabbage, carrots, celery, onion in medium chunks. I add parsnips too. Boil in water until done then drain in colander. Brown ground beef with onion, salt & pepper. Combine meat & vegetables. Add 1 or 2 cans condensed tomato soup & fold in. Made all on top of the stove. I add tomato juice to leftovers if needed & reheat in oven. |
My first casserole was a recipe we made in Home Ec class. Our meals at home were separate foods, never mixed up. I still make it. It's was named Tallarine. I remember my grandmother saying it cost too much to make with all that cheese. LOL We rarely ate cheese except on sandwiches. I'll try your recipe very soon!
