Peeps Anyone?

Tis the season for these adorable delights.I finally got my fix today with two packs (5 each) of them...pink this time. The first pack was gone before the light turned green.

The second pack is keeping me company this evening...for a little while. They won't last long.

Peeps anyone?

annievee 04-09-2020 04:26 PM

Sounds like Daughter # 2 ! After Easter, she spends her grocery money and buys as many as she can. LOL !

pocoellie 04-09-2020 04:34 PM

Absolutely hate anything made with marshmallows. LOL

Dedemac 04-09-2020 04:40 PM

What, you like your pros raw? We have been ageing ours😁

Tartan 04-09-2020 08:32 PM

I am not a fan of Peeps and I don’t like Halloween candy corn either.

sandy l 04-10-2020 04:04 AM

Peeps are OK, but I go for the Cadbury chocolate eggs.

Too funny! I do like them aged too!

debstoehr 04-10-2020 04:49 AM

Have ordered at least 2 packages in every grocery pick up order since the middle of March.

I am not a fan of those Peeps. Don't like the texture and squishy feeling in my mouth.

Iceblossom 04-10-2020 05:39 AM

Stale Peeps are better! Poke a few holes with a fork in the package and let them sit on top of the refrigerator drying out for a bit first... (yes, I'm serious)

And then there is microwaving Peeps -- 5 seconds of fun!

The very thing. They are great this way. I just tear the package open and let sit on the counter for a while. Then they go in a flash as we both love them.

katiebear1 04-10-2020 10:15 AM

For me , it is jelly beans . The good old fashioned flavors especially the black and red ones.

Onebyone 04-10-2020 11:53 AM

My grands and I love to microwave them! They get big and fluffy and gooey to eat. About ten seconds or less. After Easter Walmart has always had them for .10 a box. I buy a lot to keep in the pantry for hot chocolate when it gets winter time.

I started buying the big Dove solid chocolate rabbit every store trip. DH likes the Reece's Eggs.

My husband loves Peeps!!
I love those marshmallow chocolate eggs that Russell Stover makes. It's a treat to find them every year.

I'm bummed that I missed Girl Scout cookies this year. I love thin mints.

Iceblossom 04-10-2020 12:31 PM

Don't know about across the country, but here you can still get Girl Scout Cookies! We got shut down so early, maybe that makes a difference.

Check out your zip code here:

Yes, I love peeps! My birthday was yesterday, always close to Easter, so my Mom used to make my birthday cakes yellow lemon cakes with peeps on top. (And jellybeans around the perimeter!)

I do the same as Ice Blossom and open the package and set them on top of the fridge to “age”. Sometimes they make it to that point, sometimes they don’t....

I learned about “peep jousting” on an old yahoogroups I was on. You put two peeps on a plate, facing each other, and put a toothpick “lance” in each. Then microwave... they swell up and the winner of the joust is the first peep to pierce and pop the other. So funny!

Happy Easter, everyone!

They are only good for Peep jousting.

quiltingcandy 04-10-2020 10:16 PM

I love them! No one in my family likes them. Usually I wait to buy them after Easter because they are on sale - but last year they were all gone. Even at the 4th of the July we usually get a version of Peeps - but not last year. So the minute I saw them for sale this time I bought 2 boxes. I won't eat them until Sunday - but I am not missing out this time. :-)

My husband has been doing all the grocery shopping. I have not been out in public since 3/10. Unfortunatly (spelling) he does not like them as much as I do. When my daughter was serving in Iraq, I even sent her 2 cases. So, I have been peepless this year. Also I love the chocolate marshmallow eggs, the cheap ones. I have had none of those either!!

juliasb 04-11-2020 06:47 AM

Peeps are not one of my favorites. I love plain marshmallows and marshmallows on a s'more but the extra sugar on the top of a peep is a bit much for me. A couple years ago after Easter I bought some at a local drug store and I finallly threw them away a few months ago. They were as hard as rocks. I have never really understood the rush on them.

Doggramma 04-11-2020 09:59 AM

My daughter is all crazy about a cereal with Peeps marshmallows. It doesn’t sound good to me.

Onebyone 04-11-2020 12:35 PM

I never was a fan of Girl Scout Cookies. They all taste like regular grocery store cookies to me. Even when my two girls were Girl Scouts we rarely bought them for us. They didn't care for them either. At DH's work someone was always selling them for a child and he would buy one box of each type to leave in the employee break room.

tranum 04-12-2020 04:33 AM

I’ll leave them in the store so there’s more for the rest of you ! I’m going to the chocolate aisle anyway.

I dearly love both of these.

Jakers1 04-12-2020 06:44 AM

Found 5 count packages at Walgreen's, but 4, get one free! Limited myself to 5, no one else likes them.

Hard as rocks is perfect!! They are the best when they dry out. Can't believe you tossed them...

sewbizgirl 04-12-2020 04:22 PM

Julia, I think if you don't have an addiction to them from childhood, you will never get the reason for the rush on them.

Onebyone 04-13-2020 11:05 AM

Remember the big big Hostess marshmallow Snowballs when we were little? They were triple the size sold now. They were so good with lots of marshmallow inside. LIke a great big Peep with cake!

sewbizgirl 04-13-2020 04:22 PM

And cream in the center of the cake!

Anniedeb 04-13-2020 08:24 PM

Sorry. no. Just no. No one in our extended family.....well at least 12 of us, won't eat them!! Can you tell I don't like them?!! However those Cadbury eggs are a different story!!

I ate them as often as I could. Still love them although they are much smaller and cost more now.
