This is so good and easy, we have it very often!
3-4 pound roast beef
1 package onion soup mix
1 package Itialian dressing mix
1 can beer
Cut roast into chuncks and place in slow cooker. Sprinkle the mixes over the meat. Pour can of beer over this and cook on med. or low 4-5 hours or high 3 hours. Remove meat and thicken liquid with flour. Serve over noodles. We love the leftovers over baked potatoes. No need to use seasonings of any kind!

Thanks. That sounds like my kind of cooking.

T-Bones mom 02-07-2011 05:32 PM

bobbie1 02-07-2011 06:56 PM

sewwhat85 02-07-2011 09:43 PM

sounds great

The Creative Seamstress 02-07-2011 09:46 PM

Sounds yummy, but I have a question. Is it literally a piece of beef used for making a whole roast beef (like the kind you get in the deli department) or a piece of beef you make pot roast from? I just want to make sure I get the right cut for when I try this out... thanks!

Explosive blessings, abundance and inspiration to you all!

I'm going to try this with stew meat. I think she means pot roast meat. Not pre-cooked.

Needles 02-08-2011 04:42 AM

Recipe says cut roast into chunks.......

#1piecemaker 02-08-2011 05:23 AM

I use a 3-4 pound roast. The cheap cut is fine, because it cooks so long. I cut a bit bigger chunks than bite size, so it will stay chunky!
Enjoy

watterstide 02-08-2011 06:55 AM

i got a new electric pressure cooker, i think i may try this in it!

Mplsgirl 02-08-2011 07:47 AM

A variation I have tried is stew meat and red wine plus the other ingredients. Can't go wrong!

kwhite 02-09-2011 05:37 AM

Does it taste like beer? I hate that flavor.

watterstide 02-09-2011 05:59 AM

i would not think it would taste like beer, but you could substitute broth..no problem.

i made a recipe from one of those "food parties" (tastefully simple?) and it called for beer, and i didn't taste it.

my mom used pressure cookers. she put one on when i was home from school with a cold. she ran over to the neighbors and it exploded. scared me so bad i have never used one!
that was 65 years ago.

quilter2 02-09-2011 03:56 PM

I made this today and it was really good and it doesn't taste like beer, I did add a can of beef broth, added some flour to the beef broth just to thicken the liquid a bit. I will be making this again. I sent the recipe to my friend in NM and she also is making it today but using wine instead of beer. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
I forgot I did brown my chunks of meat before putting in crock pot and cooked on high for 5 1/2 hours, meat was so tender.

dashton4 02-11-2011 05:21 PM

YUM! I'm going to try this!

CarrieAnne 02-11-2011 05:30 PM

thanks!

violets4me123 02-11-2011 08:30 PM

Looking forward to making this recipe. Thanks for sharing.

watterstide 02-12-2011 07:40 AM

i did try it the other day..it was great!so tender!
i used the slow cooker instead of the pressure cooker..i will save that for another day.
i will try to find a way to lessen the salt the next time i make it though...

blueangel 09-30-2011 04:02 PM

Sounds good

ragqueen03 10-02-2011 06:54 PM

Just made this for dinner tonight! Definitely a keeper. DH loved it. After working outside in this cold damp dreary weather all weekend it hit the spot with him! I personally thought it tasted a little on the salty side but i don't use salt for anything! Hubby loved it - in fact he added salt to his! My mother is going to make it too - she just needs to buy 1 can of beer!

raedar63 10-02-2011 07:27 PM

I can't hardly stand the smell of beer, what other liquid would be good?
