Use a can of frozen biscuit dough.
Separate biscuits; cut a hole in middle of each biscuit (use the holes for mini-donut bits). Have hot vegetable oil ready for cooking. Drop each biscuit into the oil. Leave on one side until brown, flip and cook the other side. Remove from oil with slotted spoon, drain. then place into brown paper bag with powderd sugar, or cinnamon and rown sugar mix. After cooled you may also ice these donuts. |
Thanks for the reminder. I used to make them this way many, many years ago when working in a diner. I had forgotten that.
|
We grew up on these. My daughters friends would meet at our house on Sat. mornings for these donuts. They still talk about it after all these years.
|
My mom use to make these when I was little, so I made them for my kids occasionally and they thought they were the best thing. I personally dont care for them but for a kid all that sugar is heaven!
|
Made lots of these. Have you tried using the dinner roll or bread dough kind? They are even better!!
|
I make these for my boys quite often,my mom used to make these when I was a kid. Here's another way to use them-
Melt margirine (butter) dip biscuit in mar. then roll in sugar and cinnamon and chopped nuts place in baking dish bake 350. |
I have never seen a can of frozen biscuits
What brand? Will have to look LC |
Mine were never frozen !!! I worked for major food chain and worked in frozen and dairy and never saw bisquits fozen mini bread dough but not bisquits, maybe new in last 6 months.
|
When my kids were growing up we did something similiar. We made 'monkey bread'. Used the canned biscuits, cut each into fourths. dropped in melted butter, rolled in cinnamon and sugar mixture, put in a loaf pan and baked in a 350 degree oven. Then the little monkeys could pick at it once it cooled.

has anyone ever made baked donuts? I just wondered how they taste.
