I bought a BIG box of Christmas Rice Krispies after the holiday. They were much cheaper and I made a batch of Rice Krispie squares. They went fast and the little red and green accents were cute.

I remember years ago, my grandmother said that someday, I won't like things as sweet as I like them now. I thought, yeah,,,surrrre... Unfortunately, it became true. I can't even take chocolate any more in Rice Krispie treats.

My grand kids wanted granola bars so I added a couple packages of dried strawberries to mine they loved them.

At Christmas, the grandkids and I used food coloring to dye the marshmallow/butter mixture green, then we shaped the rice krispies mix into wreath shapes and decorated them with red hots. For Valentine's, we will make them pink and heart shaped. I wonder how it would be to color some of the marshmallow mixture yellow and use that for the center of egg shaped treats at Easter?.

I realize this is too late for this time with the grandkids - but they are even better with frosting on the top!

I have substituted peanut butter for the margarine and used Cocoa Krispies - AND sometimes also stirred in Reese's Puffs for a portion of the cereal. Have even frosted these with melted choc chips. Regular rice

Got zapped - to finish - Regular rice krispie treats are boring after this!!

I found a recipe that uses 3 cups krispies and 3 cups trail mix. Really good.

We like to change up which cereal we use. The kids favorite is fruity pebbles in place of the krispies. Apple jacks and multigrain cheerios are close runners up for favorites.

GREAT!! Now you made me want them!!:p
