Sinful Potatoes

2# package frozen hash brown chunks
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup chopped onions
2 cups shredded sharp cheese (also comes in a 2# pkg.
2 cans cream of chicken soup (do not add water)
2 cups sour cream
Cornflakes
Butter
----------
Mix together soup, sour cream, onion, cheese and salt. Add frozen hash browns (break then apart so you don't have huge chunks stuck together). Place mix in a 9x13 baking dish. Top with 2 cups crushed cornflakes. Over cornflakes spread or drizzle 1/2 cup melted butter. Bake at 350 for 1 hour. Serve hot. Sit back and enjoy the compliments.

These are sinful. I sometimes add half cheez wiz and half cheese. And if don't have cornflakes ritz will work or rice krispies.
These are wonderful any way.
thanks Sondray for reminding me of them

Sondray: Thank you for reminding me, also of these wonderful potatoes. They are great for potluck dinners...always come home with an empty pot when I've taken them but just "forgot" about them. Thanks for the reminder.

These 'taters are yummy. Here in Utah they are known as "funeral potatoes". Whenever there is a funeral, there is usually a luncheon for the family after the service. Thus, these potatoes have been made as a comfort food. Although there are various recipies, (I personally like sinful potatoes!), they are great! When I'm out of frozen potatoes, I boil ( or nuke them) shred them, and so ahead with the rest of the recipe.

If I take them to a Ladies' Bible Class luncheon, can I call them Heavenly Hashbrowns? They sound yummy! Thanks.

I make these alot but I add one packet of the dry ranch dressing mix and they are really yummy. Never any left overs.
