Snow Ice Cream

Have you ever made it? Kids love to do this and it can only be done after a fresh snowfall.

Mix 2 cups milk (not skim) with 1/2 cup sugar and 2 tsp. vanilla. Set aside and get the electric mixer
ready to go. Fill the largest bowl you own with fresh snow. Add milk mixture and beat until ice cream forms. Eat immediately. This doesn't keep.

I LOVED snow ice cream as a child. So nice to see an actual recipe again. Many thanks!!

We didn't get a lot of snow in Alabama when I was a child, but when we did....."snow cream" was what we wanted! Now you've got me wishing for snow......(sigh)

A special treat at our house too, usually led by dad. a bowl of snow, a few teaspoons of sugar and a splash of vanilla extract, stir and eat. Huge treat for us.

*** Yes, it is a treat in the South when we get snow, but
*** we usually made it in individual bowls.

Made it too many yrs to count. I have come up with a new way?? Sweetened Cond. milk [ whole can] and Evap. Milk Mix till you get thick consistency. I won't make it till after the 3rd snow. I do freeze mine and get it out on the 4th. of July!!! What a treat then!!! Put in MW for 15 sec. , stir and it's fine. [depends on how much snow but sometimes it will take 1 1/2 cans of Evap. Milk for one batch??]

Never heard of snow ice cream until I joined the board and I lived in snow country most of my life.

Around here the snow cleans the air of the winter inversion. Probably not a good idea to eat it. But my dad had it when growing up.
