My mom always said to be careful how many cucumber or zucchin plants you put in the ground or your neighbors will hate to see you coming. One friend kept giving me zucchinis - i think I ended up with 8 or 10 loaves in the freezer. It was before kids so I would take a couple into work about once a month. Now with the internet there are so many more recipes. I love fresh cucumbers - sure wish I lived close to you. Zucchinis I am pickier about eating raw, but do love them with various dips.

I just EAT them. Don't even need salt and pepper. They are so good fresh from the garden.

I love cucumbers! I eat them sliced with a bit of ranch dressing, in salads or the best way...Cucumber red onion salad. My Mom made this all the time. Especially when we had a bar-b-que in the backyard. We couldn't get enough of it, so she started making a double batch....lol

Thanks for the recipe, Hawk. Curious... I wonder what herb the author used in the pictured dish that she didn't include in the recipe. Looks kind of like dill, but who knows for sure.

ChasingHawk ... This recipe has me intrigued. I think mostly because of the apple cider vinegar. Otherwise, it reminds me of the way my Mom would serve fresh cucumbers when we were kids, but using regular vinegar. Thanks for sharing and the trip down memory lane! |

I am not one to read the whole blog with a recipe like this. Sadly I'm not interested in all the info that comes with the recipes. I just want to get to the recipe. However if you read through the comments and not just the recipe you'll see a suggestion to garnish with fresh dill or parsley. In my opinion it's not well written as that suggestion could have been listed as an option with the ingredients. |

Ah yes, fresh dill confirmed. I agree with you Janie - I don't need the back story about the recipe, just post the recipe!
To that end, I have found that if you find a recipe that you're interested in but want to avoid all the fluff, type "cooked.wiki/" at the very front of the URL for that web page. It will weed out all the storytelling, ads, etc and give you nothing but the recipe. You can click here for an example, I used the cucumber recipe that Chasing Hawk posted. |
