1/2 Soy Sauce
1/2 Worcestershire
Garlic ~ fresh minced
Onion & Pepper..go easy on the salt

Let soak for at least an hour before grilling. Tastes fancy!

Shermy 06-06-2011 11:34 AM

I like the wet marinades that you soak the steak in overnight...Thanks.

kwhite 06-06-2011 11:45 AM

Bottled. Let them sit overnight in the fridge in the dressing. Put them on the Grill. Delich

Thanks for the info. I was trying to find a good marinate, also. Will try both marinades. Sounds good!

Vodka....with peppercorns and garlic.

Yesterday's was good. Splash of vinegar, brown sugar, pineapple juice, soy sauce, garlic powder, pepper. I usually add a little ginger powder or raw ginger, but it was MIA. The steak was good without it.

Not a marinade, but very nice preparation:
Rub both surfaces of the steak with a mixture of salt, paprika and black pepper (the more the merrier).
When both sides are coated, fry both sides in a pan until it is quite brown. Then pour boiling water into the pan and put a lid on the pan. Keep checking the water level has not dried out, and cook the steaks or any sort of meat for about an hour with the lid on. The water makes a self-gravy. It is a delicious way to tenderise the meat.

My DH always uses Mustard in his marinades says that it tenderize the steak...ours are usually very tender. Might know what he's talking about??? LOL

I couldn't find my regular packaged marinade (Adolph's or Jack Daniels) the other day and chose the McCormick's Mesquite. Oh, was that ever yummy! And the steaks were very tender. I like the ones that only take 15 min. to marinade. I picked up more to have on hand for next time. And so I don't forget what we had used. :D This is my new favorite one.

I am writing my own cookbook and thought I'd share my recipe for:

"OH MY GOODNESS" STEAK MARINADE

1 TBS olive oil
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 TBS Worcestershire sauce
1 TBS balsamic vinegar
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1 TBS soy sauce
1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Mix all the ingredients together in a large plastic zip storage bag.

Place your steaks into the marinade mixture ..... zip close and toss, so all the meat is getting a coating.

Let the meat sit in the marinade for at least 4 hours ..... or overnight preferably.

Have marinated steaks come to room temperature ..... and grill or cook as you would like.

NOTES : DH came home with a special buy on Porterhouse steaks - I put this marinade mixture together and let them marinate all day until dinner time, then he fired up the grill and barbecued those "babies" to medium-rare. They were "AWESOME" and from now on, this will be the only marinade that will be used, when grilling beef steaks of any kind.

Thanks so much for all the recipes...I can't wait to try them...

My family loves this. I throw together Oil (olive if I have it or just vegetable), a bit of vinegar (usually white because it's what I usually have on hand), water, honey, fresh chopped garlic and a bit of garlic powder, some fresh onion, a bit of salt, black pepper (plus a few cracked whole peppercorns, and dried parsley. Just don't ask me the measurements of each ingredient (sorry, I'm a "bit of this" and "dash of that" cook and add everything together until a bit of it on the end of my finger tastes good).

Just put the marinade together this AM. Did not have Dijon mustard, but had spicy & bold mustard. Hopefully it will taste as good.

Will have to come back and give you the update. :-)
