Stewed Apples, So Simple, But So Good!
We have about 20 old apple trees and during this time of year, we have at least a million apples. I make all kinds of things with them, but one of my favorite meals is to just slice 3-4 small apples, with skin still on, put them in a pot with a little water, a couple of dashes of cinnamon and either some sugar, or stevia. Cook them until they're just soft and serve them, broth and all, in a big soup bowl with a toasted cheese sandwich on the side. If you're on WW, the apples are zero points using stevia, or some other non-calorie sweetener.

Sounds like a great addition to my morning oatmeal.

I have hundreds of Wolf River apples in my garage right now. When I "stew" these, they need no sugar, they are so sweet with natural sugar. And one apple is great plenty. We weighed one yesterday. One pound for one apple. These are winter apples and are not picked until after a frost. Last Sunday it was 21º in the morning. We picked the apples later in the afternoon and they were wonderful.

Cooked some with a little honey and cinnamon. So good ..I eat them all year but they are especially good in the Fall and I love how they make my kitchen smell.

I make something similar. My kids called it diet apple pie. Yum. I haven't made them in a while. Thanks for the reminder.

I make those but do peel the apples. Yummy.

I guess my applesauce in the Instant Pot is similar. I peel the apples and just add a bit of lemon juice and a tiny pinch of salt and maybe half cup water. When it is done I just stir it up and there are big chunks of apples. It is thick and delicious.

I love apples. That sounds so yummy, especially on a cold day.

Can this be done in a slow cooker/
|
Pinterest has lots of slow cooker apple recipes. the basic one is 5-6 apples, sliced. Sugar and cinnamon and whatever spices you want to put in.....just like a pie. 1/2 cup of apple cider or water. Cook on high for 1 1/2 hr or low for 4-5. I can smell it just typing about it.
