Truvia baking blend
Does anyone use the Truvia baking blend for non-baked items. Want to make an instant pudding dry mix and do not know if it can be used in the mix.
Any info is greatly appreciated |
As long as real sugar is mixed with any dry sweetener it will work in baking. Sugar is needed to get the right texture. Did you know mixing 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup of sweetener equals the sweetness of 2 cups sugar? That's why the blends calls for lot less to use. I prefer Monk Fruit or the new Swerve. Swerve has the best sugar taste of any I have tried. If you cannot have sugar I would suggest you try Swerve. My diabetic friend said it changed her food life. There are several new sweeteners on the market now, one called Ever Sweet which I was told is fermented stevia leaves and tastes just like cane sugar. I haven't tried that yet.

I have enough of the Truvia baking blend left from baking and really need to know if it can be used in NON baking, like the instant pudding mix.

You might research it on the net but as far as I know it can be used in any way for cooking. Non baking included. If it can be used to sweeten iced tea it must be able to sweeten anything. Like you I have lots but haven't used it yet. I wonder if they have a web site you could look at?

I sent the company an email and they suggested looking at their recipes. I just wanted a yes/no answer but will use the left over baking blend to see how it works.
Wonder if they have one boil water to dissolve the blend while steeping the tea, am not a tea/coffee drinker. If so that is not what I must do to make instant pudding. |
I have a recipe for a lower-carb fudge that uses a baking blend. We started out using the Splenda brand, but now use the Truvia one. I seems to work out fine.

Oh sorry for my baking answer. Read your post too fast. LOL Any sweetner can be used in non baked items. In fact heat usually breaks down the sweetners in liquids and gives a bad aftertaste.
