Better have an ambulance standing by after downing one of these.

Just in time for the BBQ season.

Mmmmmmm bacon...............this is a heart attack waiting to happen.

Handmade ground beef patties, topped with sharp cheddar cheese,
wrapped in a bacon weave.then the next step, add hotdogs as the heads, legs and tail. Next step?

Place on an oven rack, covered loosely with foil and baked for 20-30 minutes at
400 degrees. A little crispy, not too crunchy...just how a turtle
should be, no?

Do you remember the cooking show, "Two Fat Ladies"? They cooked with lard and lots of bacon wrapped around meatloaf. Lots of dishes that would soon give you heart troubles.

These days I can only look at pictures of bacon and hamburgers. Doing a low fat diet, all the fun food is not allowed. But I do manage to make lots of really tasty dishes that are really low in fat.

butterflywing 06-27-2010 01:30 PM

i don't know which will kill me first. the heart attack or the laughing.

marsye 06-27-2010 01:35 PM

Well they are adorable but I'm too busy to have heart bypass right now so I'll pass. Pass the chicken please.

BATmama 06-27-2010 09:16 PM

These are cute. We fix something similar and call them bacon burger dogs. But I think the heart attack is included in my receipe too. LOL

DianD 06-28-2010 12:12 PM

Okay...they are kind of... Cute? However, even as demented as I am, I would have trouble eating one of these - my first thought was how horrible they would look with ketchup on them...
Yes, I believe I will have the chicken also, thanks!

Sugarpumpkin 06-29-2010 09:27 AM

i can feel my arteries clogging just looking at those but they are sooo adorable!

fishnlady 07-01-2010 10:34 PM

Chasing Hawk and Marsye, I too have clogged arteries and I took pretty good care through the years. Just goes to show you that eating healthy isn't always going to prevent clogged arteries. Runs in my family though. If you ladies have heart healthy recipes you would be willing to share I would be eternally grateful. PS I thought chicken was healthier but got to looking and there was more cholesterol in equal amounts of chicken as there are in beef. I don't get it????

JACRN 07-02-2010 08:33 PM

Oh, I think Ineed another NEXIUM.

MissyGirl 03-12-2011 07:26 AM

OMG!!! That is freaking hilarious!!! You guys are soo funny! Thank you so much Tru for sending me this link!!!!

grammyp 03-12-2011 07:29 AM

The grands would love them, but I can feel my arteries clogging just looking at them.

I do make octopi from hot dogs and they love those.

hooked 03-26-2011 08:05 AM

Maybe they could be made healthier by using turkey bacon and ground turkey. My kids can't wait for me to make these. May try to sneak in healthier ingredients on them.

Oh you could add shredded carrots or zucchini or other veggies. They would never know.

Please post pics after you make them!

pgthom 09-25-2011 11:00 PM

Ewwww....can feel my arteries slammin' shut just looking at the pictures. Cute, but no thanks!

lisajane 09-28-2011 03:31 PM

I work in a Butcher Shop In Ohio, I made one of these. It is the cutest thing when done. Everybody loved it, It is rather large for a sandwich, but it would make the cutest table centerpiece at a BBQ or cookout, or at the lake. Let there be no mistake about it, when they are done, everyone will know it is a turtle, because it looks just like one.
