Valentine's Day Dinner Plans?

Not much going on here, Valentine's isn't one of my major holidays -- Pi(e) Day on 3.14 is bigger, along with May the 4th (star wars day -- May the Fourth be with you).

Making a batch of Lover's Eggplant. I know I've shared this before but it happens I have eggplants to use up. I usually use the long skinny asian style for this recipe.

Other than that, we have leftover corned beef and/or leftover beef stroganoff. All three items (including the eggplant) pretty individually and highly spiced and not the best combined meal.

Any of the rest of you have a tradition?

Hubby and I met on-line and although we had a couple years of chatting both on-line and on-phone. We only had two face to face meetings, first he came to visit me at Thanksgiving, then I went to visit him on Valentines. For our first valentine's dinner we had heart shaped pasta, fresh asparagus, hollandaise or cheese sauce from a packet and I think it was chicken breasts. Turns out he had never had fresh asparagus before and liked it :p was a tradition for many Valentine's but not this year :)

Our Valentine tradition is to treat each other with love and respect everyday. I can’t stand people that go all out with a big show for Valentines Day but treat their partners rotten all year long.

Sounds good, Iceblossom. Your leftovers are better than our leftovers. Our plans are just to graze on left over SuperBowl food.

as a single person with a dog. The dog had left over chicken breast with dog probiotics sprinkled on top and his kibble. I had three cheese ravioli with spinach (frozen) and Prego sauces. For dessert I had thawed out some homemade apple sauces and put a bit of half and half on it. I also had made some blueberry, banana, walnut bread and will have a slice of that later with tea. Not terribly exciting, was thinking of just opening a can of chicken noodle soup but went for the ravioli. The older I get, the simpler I go!

DH and I have everything we could ever want, or need. We do like to cook, and one of our resolutions this year was to expand our recipes, and try more things. Tonight that meant broiling a Prime ribeye bone-in cowboy cut 2.5 lb hunk of steak. We had salad, boiled potatoes, sauteed mushrooms with butter, onion and garlic, and a side of asparagus. It was excellent! 99.9% of the time our steaks are grilled outside, but with temps at about zero, and snow yesterday, the grill hadn't been cleared off.

Well, on New Years Eve I thought we should go out to dinner and see a movie. We both ended up with Covid a few days later. So not in a hurry to go out to dinner again. We had leftovers from the Super Bowl foods and watched a movie at home.

Our Valentine's dinner was Paul's favorite: hotdogs, baked beans, cole slaw, a rare meal in winter but nice when it's below zero out.

We don’t do a Valentine’s dinner. We did go for lunch at our favorite supper club. It wasn’t very busy at lunchtime.

We celebrate my nephew's birthday. His name is Jeffery Valentine born on Valentine's day.
