5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE COFFEE MUG CAKE!!

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla essence
1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to your largest mug and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using), vanilla essence , then mix again.

Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (high).
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!

Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.

EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).

And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?

Because now you are only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

This goes straight to My Pages - THANKS!

Have you ever tried to halve the recipe? I think this would be tons of fun to do with my day care kiddos. But the full recipe sounds like too much cake for one :) I think it would be a lot of fun I'd they didn't have to share lol.

I printed this out when it first hit the internet, my son makes it all the time. He loves to make it when friends are over.
We do use Egg Beaters and a video I saw on You Tube suggested slightly less than a whole egg, so we use 2 TBL of Egg Beaters.

Thanks for the recipe--aren't you supposed to be studying??? If you make this cake on a large scale, can we all stop by for some?

rannyof3 07-15-2011 06:13 AM

Hi, I use this recipe using Gluten-free flour. It is delicious!

reeskylr 07-15-2011 08:12 AM

ptquilts 07-15-2011 08:36 AM

This is habit forming. Introduced it to the grandchildren. Big mistake. Can't keep ingredients on the shelf. Has anyone tried to do either yellow or spice or gingerbread?

Alondra 07-15-2011 10:02 AM

HALVE the recipe??? Are you kidding??? No way, Jose! Thanks for posting! I'm off to the kitchen now.

No, but I use different flavours of chips like butterscotch, mint, etc. for variation.

thrums 07-15-2011 12:53 PM

Sounds good. There are times when I just want a piece of cake and this will fit the bill.

Thanks!

probably the eggs....

If you beat the whites and fold them into the mixture, it will be fluffier.

Kutnso 07-15-2011 01:38 PM

GAgal 07-15-2011 03:20 PM

thank you

Sandra in Minnesota 07-15-2011 08:22 PM

Put this recipe with the "Fudge for One" recipe (which was a keeper.

MixtyMaxty 08-05-2011 12:32 PM

I wondered if that would work, as my granddaughter is gluten intolerant. I am going to try it. Do you grease the coffee mug?

Janice Thompson 08-05-2011 02:02 PM

Yes you grease the mug. Much easier to extract.

nance-ell 08-05-2011 02:09 PM

I printed this from a newsletter a couple of months ago. Haven't worked up the courage to try it. Once I do, I'm afraid it will become a nightly ritual! lol

Janice Thompson 08-05-2011 02:21 PM

Instead of frosting "Cool Whip" is wonderful

MixtyMaxty 08-05-2011 02:41 PM

OK, thanks. I am anxious to try this.
