Ways To Use Hemp Hearts
First of all...No, hemp hearts are not Cannabis. They will not get you high and they are not illegal, at least not in my state. They are made from the seeds of the hemp plant, which is used in rope and twine production. Hemp hearts are high in Omega 3s and 6s, as well as other good nutrients. You can find them at co-ops and health food stores, as well as online, (try Nuts.com.)
Hemp hearts taste great sprinkled on salads and cooked veggies. They can also be used to make yummy salad dressings. I really like this one, because it doesn't use fattening nuts, or oils and comes out really creamy: https://simple-veganista.com/creamy-...herb-dressing/ You can make it a little thicker to use as a sandwich dressing and it keeps for several days in the refrigerator. |
I tried Hemp Hearts and can't eat them. I wish I could, they have a lot of great attributes.

I have a large bag of hemp hearts here that I have not used. Tried them as a topping and just to eat in the hand and that did not work. Looking for good ways to use them.

I like a scoop of hemp hearts mixed in with cottage cheese with a big dollop of salsa on top. I had to gradually build up the amount of hemp hearts in a serving as it took awhile for my system to adjust to them.

Yeah...I agree. You have to get used to eating whole, high fiber foods. Beans used to bother me, but now, I eat them at least 4-5 times a week and no problems. It takes a while to get used to eating that way, but IMHO, it's well worth it.

My daughter puts them on her ice cream and puts them in zucchini or banana bread and smoothies.

I have never heard of this food, seed, or what ever category it fits in. Interesting info about your body needing to get used to them. I tried to add flax seed to my diet and all I get is bloating and belly discomfort. I wonder if it is the same thing, my body needs to get used to them. Humm. Never through of that.
