I love figs. Are they fresh or dried? I have never cooked with them but I would think you could use them like dates in date bars?

First, wash the figs you want to eat now. Then, pull the stem off with about 20% of the surrounding skin. Pop into your mouth & enjoy. A ripe fig should be kinda mushy. If it is not ripe, you will get a fuzzy taste in your mouth & the figs won't be that good.
Years ago I made canned figs using a recipe that called for Strawberry Jello. The result was a jam that tasted like strawberry preserves. http://www.food.com/recipe/Strawberr...reserves-60744 http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/e...ipe/index.html This should be another good recipe. The figs are great on pancakes & biscuits. If you are only making a very small batch, you could just keep in the fridge. Wish I had me some figs. I love them fresh right off the tree. |
